CUTICLE CARE

Neglecting your cuticles is a sure way to end up with weak and unsightly nails.

  1. Apply cuticle cream to the base of your nails on a daily basis to stimulate circulation, promote quicker growth, and prevent hangnails.
  2. Never cut your cuticles or hangnails. This can lead to infection. Instead, soak your hands in soapy water for about five minutes and then push them back with a manicure stick.
  3. If your cuticles grow at a super fast rate, consider using a cuticle softener or cuticle removing liquid. These are medically safe ways to control the growth.
  4. Understand the importance of the cuticle. Their purpose is to prevent bacteria from entering the lunula (this is the moon-like semi circle at the base of your nail). If bacteria gets through, not only will the area become infected, but the emerging nails will be weak and damaged.
  5. Always try to use a cotton tipped manicure stick when pushing back your cuticles. Using an unpadded device runs the risk of tearing the cuticle...which can lead to infection.
